About the role

We are now looking for a total of 6 interns within communications, human resources and law as well as for our Eurasia and Latin America Departments. 

Together with the department you will follow and participate in Civil Rights Defenders' daily work, which of course varies between different departments. Depending on your professional profile, potential and preferred development areas as well as the needs of our organisation you will be matched with the department that can give you the most out of your internship at Civil Rights Defenders. The selection will be made based on your answers in the application form, included preferred departments/working areas.

During the internship, we will offer the opportunity to participate in external events, seminars and meetings, as well as internal workshops about our work. The internship is adapted depending on your skills. You will get a supervisor who helps, guides and trains you during the internship.

About you

To be suitable for this internship you have:

  • An ongoing or just completed bachelor’s or master's degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Communications, Human Resources or similar, and for some our internships preferably an education on international and European human rights mechanisms
  • Good knowledge of speaking and writing in English, and for some of our internships even in Swedish, Spanish, Russian
  • The ability to work independently and responsibly
  • A genuine interest in human rights and a basic knowledge about the issues that Civil Rights Defenders works with

Experience in events planning is considered a merit, as well as experience in a civil society organisation, whether local, regional, national or international.

About the intership

The internship takes place at our head office in Stockholm or remotely from mid-August to the end of December 2021, or in accordance with your education plan. As an organisation, we strive for diversity and we see your background, experience and personality as a contribution to the organisation. 

Civil Rights Defenders only accepts interns who have an internship as part of their formal education, if the internship takes place during the study period or is in direct connection with completed studies. The internship is full-time and unpaid, with the possibility of compensation for travel expenses.
